What is the difference between RGB and RGB-IC?
RGB means the whole strip shows one colour at a time, changed with a remote — usually 16 preset colours. RGB-IC means each segment has its own chip, so the strip can show many colours at once, run animations and react to music. RGB-IC is controlled from a phone app rather than a remote.
If you want the room to sit in one calm colour, RGB is enough and costs less. If you want movement, gradients or music sync — and especially if you record or stream — take RGB-IC.

How much RGB lighting does one room actually need?
One wall light and one desk light. That is the answer for the large majority of rooms. A single strip behind the monitor plus one wall feature reads as a designed space; four different products fighting each other reads as clutter, and it is the most common mistake we see in photos customers send us.
If you are building in stages, buy the wall light first. It changes how the whole room photographs. The desk light can wait.
What is the one mistake that makes a room look worse?
Pointing the light at yourself instead of at the wall. RGB should bounce off a surface — that is what creates the ambient glow. A strip aimed into the room creates glare on the screen, washes out your face on camera, and makes the colour look cheap. Always mount so the LEDs face the wall, not the viewer.
The second mistake is brightness. A colour at 100% in a dark room is harsh and tiring over a long session. Most people settle between 40% and 60% once they have lived with it for a week.
Do RGB lights work with Alexa or Google Home?
The Smart Neon RGB-IC kit works with both Alexa and Google Home. The app-controlled RGB-IC strip kit and Nano Lines are controlled from their own phone app. The 16-colour remote versions are not smart-home compatible — they use the physical remote only.
What does RGB lighting cost for a whole room?
A single strip behind a monitor is 620 EGP. A wall feature plus a desk light is typically 2,500–3,500 EGP. A full feature wall with Nano Lines or panels runs 4,000–6,000 EGP.
